Description

These White Cheddar Stuffed Mushrooms are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer featuring large white button mushrooms filled with a savory mixture of sautéed mushroom stems, garlic, onion, and a blend of sharp white cheddar and Parmesan cheeses. Baked until golden and bubbly, they make a perfect party snack or starter for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Stuffed Mushrooms

  • 20 large white button mushrooms, stems removed and finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup plain bread crumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp white cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a baking sheet. Clean the mushroom caps carefully and set them aside.
  2. Sauté Filling Base: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the finely chopped mushroom stems, minced garlic, and chopped onion. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until the mixture is softened and fragrant.
  3. Add Seasonings and Bread Crumbs: Stir in the bread crumbs, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
  4. Mix in Cheeses and Herbs: Once cooled, combine the shredded sharp white cheddar cheese, grated Parmesan, and chopped fresh parsley with the sautéed mixture to create the filling.
  5. Stuff the Mushrooms: Spoon the filling into each mushroom cap, pressing down gently to pack it inside evenly.
  6. Bake: Arrange the stuffed mushrooms on the prepared baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 18–20 minutes until the mushrooms are tender and the filling is golden and bubbly.
  7. Serve: Remove from the oven and serve warm as a delightful appetizer.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the filling for a slight kick.
  • These stuffed mushrooms can be prepped ahead of time and baked just before serving, making them ideal for entertaining and parties.
