Ingredients
Scale
Tomato Mixture
- 4 ripe Roma tomatoes, diced
- 1 small garlic clove, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Toast
- 1 French baguette, sliced into ½-inch pieces
- 1 extra garlic clove, halved for rubbing
- Additional olive oil for brushing
Instructions
- Prepare Tomato Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped fresh basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Stir well and allow the flavors to meld for at least 10 minutes.
- Preheat Oven and Toast Bread: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and lightly brush each slice with olive oil. Toast in the oven for 7–8 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and crisp.
- Rub Toast with Garlic: Remove the toasted baguette slices from the oven, and while still warm, rub the cut side of the halved garlic clove over each slice to impart a subtle garlic flavor.
- Assemble Bruschetta: Spoon the tomato mixture generously over each toasted slice, ensuring the topping stays fresh and vibrant.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the bruschetta immediately for best texture and flavor. Optionally, drizzle with extra balsamic vinegar or sprinkle with Parmesan cheese before serving.
Notes
- For extra flavor, drizzle the finished bruschetta with a little more balsamic vinegar or top with grated Parmesan cheese.
- Bruschetta is best served fresh to maintain the crispness of the toasted bread.
- Use ripe Roma tomatoes for the best texture and taste.
- Adjust salt and pepper according to your preference.
