Sweet Onion Sauce Ingredients

- 1 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Combine sugar and vinegar: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the white sugar and white vinegar, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Prepare cornstarch slurry: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water until smooth to create a slurry.
- Add slurry to saucepan: Pour the cornstarch slurry into the saucepan, stirring well to incorporate and avoid lumps.
- Incorporate remaining ingredients: Add the soy sauce, finely minced white onion, poppy seeds, dry mustard powder, salt, and garlic powder to the mixture, stirring to combine fully.
- Simmer the sauce: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low and let simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring frequently until the sauce thickens to a syrup-like consistency.
