Description

A classic and hearty American breakfast sandwich featuring savory sausage patties, perfectly cooked eggs, and melted cheddar cheese, all nestled inside toasted English muffins or biscuits. This quick and easy stovetop recipe is perfect for busy mornings and can be made ahead for convenience.

Ingredients

Scale

Protein & Dairy

  • 4 breakfast sausage patties
  • 4 large eggs
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon butter or oil

Bread

  • 4 English muffins or biscuits, split and toasted

Seasoning

  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook the Sausage Patties: Heat a skillet over medium heat and cook the sausage patties until browned and cooked through, about 4–5 minutes per side. Once done, remove them from the skillet and set aside.
  2. Cook the Eggs: In the same skillet, melt the butter or heat the oil. Crack in the eggs and cook them to your preferred doneness—scrambled, over-easy, or fried. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If you want melted cheese, flip the eggs and place a slice of cheddar on top during the last 30 seconds of cooking.
  3. Toast the Muffins or Biscuits: While the eggs cook, toast the split English muffins or biscuits until golden and crisp.
  4. Assemble the Sandwiches: Layer each toasted muffin or biscuit bottom with a cooked sausage patty, topped with the cheesy egg, then cover with the muffin or biscuit top half. Serve the sandwiches warm for best flavor.

Notes

  • Make it ahead by assembling and wrapping sandwiches in foil, then refrigerating or freezing. Reheat in the oven or microwave for a quick breakfast.
  • Swap sausage with bacon or turkey sausage as desired.
