Description
This Peach Dump Cake recipe is a simple and delicious dessert made by layering canned peaches, yellow cake mix, and butter in a baking dish, then baking until golden and bubbly. It’s a quick, no-fuss cake that delivers a sweet, fruity treat perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
For the Cake
- 3/4 cup butter (1 ½ sticks butter, plus 1 tablespoon)
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar (packed)
- 29 ounce can peaches in heavy syrup (undrained)
- 1 15.25 oz. box yellow cake mix
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit to prepare for baking the dump cake.
- Prepare Baking Dish: Melt 1 tablespoon of butter and brush it over the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking. Then evenly sprinkle 2 tablespoons of packed brown sugar over the butter for added caramelized sweetness.
- Add Peaches: Pour the entire can of peaches including the syrup into the prepared baking dish, spreading them out evenly to form the bottom fruit layer.
- Top with Cake Mix: Evenly spread the 15.25 oz box of yellow cake mix over the peaches, covering the fruit completely.
- Add Butter Pieces: Cut the remaining 1 ½ sticks of butter into small pieces and distribute them evenly over the top of the dry cake mix. These butter pieces will melt during baking to create a crispy, golden topping.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- You can substitute fresh peaches for canned if preferred; just make sure to add some sugar or syrup for sweetness.
- Using a 9×13 inch baking dish works best to achieve the right depth and cooking time.
- Feel free to add a sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg to the peaches for extra flavor.
- Serve warm with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an indulgent dessert.
- Store leftovers tightly covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
