Description

A flavorful and tangy Orange Ground Chicken recipe that combines tender ground chicken with a sweet and zesty orange sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, this dish is served best over rice or wrapped in fresh lettuce for a light and delicious meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Chicken
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper

Orange Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/3 cup Orange Marmalade
  • 3 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons White Vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Ginger Root Paste
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic Paste
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch

Optional Garnishes

  • Orange Zest
  • Green Onions
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Red Pepper Flakes

Instructions

  1. Cook the Chicken: In a skillet over medium heat, add ground chicken, salt, and black pepper. Brown the ground chicken until fully cooked and no longer pink.
  2. Prepare the Orange Sauce: Drain any excess liquid from the cooked chicken and set aside. Using the same skillet, add orange juice, brown sugar, orange marmalade, soy sauce, white vinegar, ginger root paste, and garlic paste. Whisk these ingredients together over medium-low heat and let the sauce simmer gently for five minutes to blend the flavors.
  3. Thicken the Sauce: Remove the skillet from heat to stir in the cornstarch, whisking until fully dissolved to avoid lumps. Return the saucepan to low heat and cook the sauce until it thickens, about 2 minutes.
  4. Combine Chicken and Sauce: Remove the skillet from heat again and add the cooked ground chicken back into the skillet with the thickened orange sauce.
  5. Coat the Chicken: Stir thoroughly until the ground chicken is fully coated in the flavorful orange sauce.
  6. Serve: Serve the orange ground chicken hot, accompanied by steamed rice or wrapped in fresh lettuce leaves. Garnish with optional orange zest, green onions, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes for added flavor and texture.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness or tanginess of the sauce by modifying the amount of brown sugar or vinegar to suit your taste.
  • For a spicier kick, add more red pepper flakes or a splash of hot sauce.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • This dish pairs well with steamed rice, quinoa, or crunchy lettuce wraps for a low-carb option.
  • Make sure to drain the cooked chicken to prevent the sauce from becoming too watery.
