Description

Maryland Crab Dip is a creamy, cheesy appetizer bursting with authentic Old Bay seasoning and tender lump crab meat. Baked to a hot and bubbly perfection, this crowd-pleasing dip is perfect for parties and gatherings, served alongside crackers, sliced baguette, or fresh veggies.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning, plus more for topping
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 pound lump crab meat, picked over for shells

Garnish & Serving

  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Lemon wedges (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to warm up as you prepare the dip.
  2. Mix Base: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add mayonnaise, sour cream, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined and creamy.
  3. Add Cheese & Crab: Stir in the shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese. Then gently fold in the lump crab meat carefully to maintain its chunkiness.
  4. Transfer to Baking Dish: Spoon the mixture into a baking dish and smooth out the top evenly. Sprinkle a little extra Old Bay seasoning over the surface for added flavor and color.
  5. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbly throughout.
  6. Garnish & Serve: Remove from oven, garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve warm with crackers, sliced baguette, or fresh vegetables alongside lemon wedges for a bright finish.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a mix of lump and claw crab meat.
  • This dip can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
  • Leftovers reheat well in either the oven or microwave.
