Description
Homemade Orangeade is a refreshing, sweet, and tangy drink made from freshly squeezed oranges and lemons combined with simple syrup and honey. Perfectly balanced and chilled, this homemade treat is ideal for hot days or anytime you want a natural citrus beverage.
Ingredients
Scale
Simple Syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
Juices & Sweetener
- 2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice (about 8 oranges)
- 2 lemons, juiced
- 1 tablespoon honey
Additional Liquid
- 2 cups water
Instructions
- Make the Simple Syrup: In a large pot over medium heat, combine the sugar with 1 cup of water. Stir constantly until the sugar is fully dissolved to create a smooth simple syrup. Remove from heat to prevent caramelization.
- Mix Citrus and Honey: Add the freshly squeezed orange juice, lemon juice, and honey into the warm syrup. Stir thoroughly to incorporate all ingredients evenly.
- Add Remaining Water and Chill: Pour in the remaining 2 cups of water and stir well. Transfer the orangeade into a pitcher and refrigerate until completely chilled. Serve cold, optionally garnished with fresh mint leaves and orange slices for an extra refreshing presentation.
Notes
- Use freshly squeezed juice for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
- Adjust the honey amount to taste for preferred sweetness level.
- Simple syrup keeps the drink smooth and well blended without gritty sugar texture.
- Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving for optimal chill.
- Garnishing with mint or orange slices adds a burst of aroma and visual appeal.
