Ingredients
Scale
Pancakes
- 1 1/2 cups pancake mix
- 1/2 cup syrup (plus additional for injecting)
- Water – 1 cup
Sausage & Eggs
- 4 sausage patties
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
Cheese
- 4 slices American cheese
Instructions
- Prepare Pancake Batter: Combine 1 1/2 cups pancake mix with 1 cup of water, stirring until fully blended with no lumps. This will create the batter for your McGriddle pancakes.
- Cook Pancakes in Rings: Place a mason jar lid ring in a skillet, open side facing down, spray the inside with oil, and heat the skillet over medium. Pour batter inside the ring until halfway full. When bubbles appear (about 60 seconds), carefully remove the ring with tongs. Flip the pancake and cook the other side for an additional 60 seconds. Remove and repeat to make the desired number of pancakes.
- Inject Syrup Into Pancakes: After pancakes have cooled, use a kitchen syringe, medical syringe, or flavor injector to inject syrup inside each pancake. This adds a sweet, moist center reminiscent of McDonald’s signature syrup-infused pancakes.
- Cook Sausage Patties: On a medium heated skillet, cook the sausage patties for 3 minutes per side until fully cooked through. Remove from heat and immediately top each patty with a slice of American cheese to allow it to melt.
- Make Scrambled Eggs: Crack eggs into a bowl with a pinch of salt and pepper, whisking well. Pour the eggs into a medium heated skillet, spreading evenly to fill the pan. After 30 seconds, fold the eggs twice into themselves, then fold in half again to create a neat fold that will fit inside the sandwich.
- Assemble McGriddles: Place the folded scrambled egg onto one syrup-injected pancake, top with the sausage and melted cheese, and cover with another pancake. Serve immediately for a delicious homemade McGriddle experience.
Notes
- Using a mason jar lid ring helps achieve perfectly round pancakes that match the McGriddle style.
- Injecting syrup post-cooking prevents burning the syrup and keeps pancakes moist and flavorful.
- You can substitute turkey sausage for a leaner option.
- To keep sandwiches warm while assembling, place them in a low oven (about 200°F) on a baking sheet.
- For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla extract to the pancake batter.
