Ingredients
Scale
Quesadilla Ingredients
- 2 large flour tortillas
- 1 cup cooked chicken breast, shredded or chopped
- 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
Sauce Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon sour cream
- 1 teaspoon lime juice
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the sauce. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, lime juice, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, chili powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well until smooth and evenly blended to create the flavorful spiced sauce.
- Spread sauce onto tortillas. Evenly spread the prepared sauce on one side of each flour tortilla, ensuring full coverage for added flavor in every bite.
- Assemble the quesadillas. On one half of each sauce-covered tortilla, layer the shredded chicken and shredded Mexican blend cheese. Fold the tortilla over to form a semicircle, enclosing the filling.
- Heat the skillet and butter. Place a skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Allow it to melt completely, coating the pan to prevent sticking and add richness.
- Cook the quesadillas. Place one folded quesadilla in the hot skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the tortilla turns golden brown and crispy, and the cheese inside has melted.
- Repeat and serve. Repeat the cooking process with the second quesadilla. Once cooked, slice each quesadilla into wedges and serve warm. Complement with dipping sauces such as salsa or guacamole if desired.
Notes
- Use cooked chicken breast to save time and ensure the chicken is fully cooked before assembling.
- Adjust the amount of cayenne pepper to control the spice level to your preference.
- May substitute Mexican blend cheese with cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a combination of cheeses.
- Butter can be replaced with a neutral oil if preferred.
- Serve with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for added flavor.
