Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Marinade
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Garnish
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (optional)
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, olive oil, minced garlic, grated fresh ginger, rice vinegar, honey, and lemon juice. Whisk the ingredients together until the marinade is smooth and fully blended.
- Marinate the chicken. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Place them in a shallow dish and pour the prepared marinade over the chicken, ensuring all pieces are coated. Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes; for deeper flavor, marinate overnight.
- Preheat the grill. Heat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat to prepare for cooking the chicken evenly with a nice char.
- Grill the chicken. Remove the chicken breasts from the marinade, discarding any excess marinade. Place the chicken on the preheated grill and cook for 6 to 8 minutes on each side, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C), indicating the chicken is fully cooked.
- Rest the chicken. Remove the grilled chicken from the heat and allow it to rest for 5 minutes to retain juices and improve tenderness before slicing.
- Serve and garnish. Slice the rested chicken into strips. Sprinkle with optional sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and presentation. Serve immediately.
Notes
- For best results, marinate the chicken overnight to maximize flavor penetration.
- Use a meat thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F.
- If you don’t have a grill, a grill pan or cast iron skillet works well for stovetop grilling.
- Adjust honey and lemon juice according to your preferred balance of sweetness and acidity.
- Serve with steamed rice and sautéed vegetables for a complete meal.
