Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 8 oz provolone cheese, sliced
- 1 cup sliced bell peppers (mixed red and green)
- 1 cup sweet onion, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat Skillet: Preheat a large skillet over medium heat and drizzle in the olive oil to prepare for sautéing the vegetables.
- Sauté Vegetables: Add the sliced onions and bell peppers to the skillet, cooking them for about 5-7 minutes until they become soft and fragrant.
- Cook Ground Beef: Push the sautéed veggies to the sides of the skillet and add the ground beef to the center. Cook until the beef is browned, breaking it apart with a spatula while cooking. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
- Melt Cheese: Once the beef is fully cooked, evenly top it with sliced provolone cheese. Cover the pan briefly to allow the cheese to melt perfectly over the meat and veggies.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Open the hoagie rolls and fill each one generously with the cheesy beef and vegetable mixture. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
- Use lean ground beef to reduce excess grease and keep the sandwich lighter.
- Sauté vegetables until tender but still slightly crisp to keep texture.
- Covering the pan when melting cheese helps it become gooey and evenly distributed.
- Customize with your favorite peppers or add mushrooms for extra flavor.
- Serve with a side of chips or a simple salad for a complete meal.
