Ingredients
Scale
Fudge Ingredients
- 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, cut into pieces
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup chopped nuts (optional, such as walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
- Prepare the baking dish: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides to make removal of the fudge easier after it sets.
- Melt the chocolate mixture: In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and unsalted butter. Stir constantly to prevent burning, until the mixture is completely melted and smooth.
- Add flavorings and nuts: Remove the saucepan from heat. Stir in the vanilla extract, salt, and if using, the chopped nuts. Mix until well combined.
- Pour and chill: Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top with a spatula for an even layer. Place the dish in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours, or until the fudge is firm enough to cut.
- Cut and serve: Once set, use the parchment paper overhang to lift the fudge out of the dish. Cut into approximately 25 squares and serve.
Notes
- Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- You can freeze the fudge for longer storage.
- For extra flair and texture, sprinkle flaky sea salt or festive sprinkles on top before chilling.
