- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon sugar

- 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or basil (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large saucepan over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the diced onion and sauté for 5–6 minutes until soft and translucent.
- Stir in the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add the tomato paste and cook for 1 minute to deepen the flavor.
- Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well.
- Add sugar, oregano, basil, red pepper flakes (if using), and season with salt and pepper.
- Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened and rich.
- Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
