Description

This Coffee Panna Cotta is a luxuriously smooth and creamy Italian dessert infused with the rich aroma of strong brewed coffee. Set to a perfect silky texture using gelatin, it’s a sophisticated and easy-to-make treat that’s served chilled, making it an ideal dessert for any occasion. The subtle vanilla enhances the depth of coffee flavor, creating a wonderfully balanced and indulgent experience.

Ingredients

Scale

Cream Mixture

  • 2 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup brewed strong coffee
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Gelatin

  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) unflavored gelatin

Instructions

  1. Bloom the gelatin: Sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the whole milk in a small bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to absorb the liquid and bloom, which is essential for smooth dissolution.
  2. Heat the cream and coffee mixture: In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, brewed coffee, and granulated sugar. Warm over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is hot but not boiling.
  3. Dissolve the gelatin: Add the bloomed gelatin mixture to the hot cream and coffee mixture. Whisk continuously until the gelatin is completely dissolved and the mixture is smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract for added flavor.
  4. Pour and chill: Pour the mixture evenly into ramekins or serving glasses. Allow them to cool to room temperature before transferring to the refrigerator. Chill for at least 4 hours, or until the panna cotta is set and firm.
  5. Serve: Serve the panna cotta chilled, optionally garnished with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or a drizzle of caramel for an extra touch of indulgence.

Notes

  • Ensure that the coffee is strong to impart a robust flavor to the panna cotta.
  • Do not boil the cream mixture as this could affect the texture of the dessert.
  • For easier unmolding, lightly oil the ramekins before pouring in the mixture.
  • Allow sufficient chilling time for the panna cotta to fully set.
  • Customize garnishes according to preference, such as coffee beans or cocoa powder.
