For the Casserole:
- 1 medium head green cabbage, chopped (about 6 cups)
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (10 ounces) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
For Garnish (optional):
- Chopped parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and prepare the dish: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the onion and beef: In a skillet, sauté the onion in olive oil until soft. Add garlic, then brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat.
- Prepare the cabbage: Boil chopped cabbage in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain.
- Mix the ingredients: Combine mushroom soup, sour cream, spices, and 1 cup of cheddar. Add cabbage and beef, mix well.
- Bake the casserole: Transfer mixture to dish, top with remaining cheese, and bake for 25–30 minutes until bubbly.
- Garnish and serve: Optionally garnish with parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- You can use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
- For extra flavor, try adding cooked rice or using diced tomatoes instead of some of the soup.
