- Shortening or cooking spray (for coating the baking sheet)
Peanuts and Seasoning
- 1 large egg white
- 1 jar honey-roasted peanuts (16 oz.)
- 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon sweet paprika
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 – 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a large baking sheet using shortening or cooking spray to prevent sticking, and set it aside.
- Mix Egg White and Peanuts: In a large bowl, whisk the egg white until frothy. Add the honey-roasted peanuts to the bowl and stir well to coat all the peanuts evenly with the egg white.
- Add Spices: Add the light brown sugar, both sweet and smoked paprika, kosher salt, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, mustard powder, and freshly ground black pepper to the bowl. Mix thoroughly to combine all the spices and coat the peanuts evenly.
- Arrange on Baking Sheet: Transfer the seasoned peanuts to the prepared baking sheet, spreading them out in a single layer. Gently jiggle or shake the baking sheet to ensure the peanuts are evenly distributed without overlapping.
- Bake the Peanuts: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes. Stir the peanuts every 10 minutes to promote even roasting and prevent burning.
- Cool and Store: Remove the baking sheet from the oven and allow the peanuts to cool completely on the baking sheet. Once cooled, break up any clusters of peanuts and store them in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
