Description

Delight in a healthy and crispy snack with this easy Air Fryer Apple Chips recipe. Using thinly sliced apples seasoned lightly with cinnamon, these chips are air fried to perfection, creating a naturally sweet, crunchy treat that’s perfect for snacking or topping your favorite dishes. Ready in just 15 minutes, this simple recipe requires minimal ingredients and equipment, making it a quick and nutritious alternative to store-bought chips.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 medium-sized apple (Gala, Fuji, or Red Delicious)
  • Cinnamon (optional, to taste)

Instructions

  1. Slice the Apples: Using a mandoline, thinly slice the apple into 1/32” thick pieces, stopping once you reach the core to avoid seeds. Thin slices ensure the chips become crisp during air frying.
  2. Air Fry the Apple Slices: Place half of the apple slices in the basket of a 6-quart air fryer, arranging them in multiple layers without overcrowding. Cook at 320°F for 11-12 minutes, flipping each slice every 4 minutes to ensure even browning and crispiness. Remove the top layers to access and flip the bottom layers thoroughly.
  3. Remove from Heat: During the final few minutes, start removing the chips that have turned lightly browned and firm, even if not fully crispy, as they will continue to crisp up after being taken out. Repeat the process with the remaining slices.
  4. Store or Serve: Enjoy the apple chips immediately for the best texture or store them in a loosely sealed container to avoid moisture buildup and sogginess. Avoid airtight containers for storage.

Notes

  • Use a mandoline slicer for uniform thin slices to ensure even cooking.
  • Apples will continue to crisp up after air frying, so don’t overcook them.
  • Add cinnamon before or after air frying for extra flavor.
  • Store in a container with some air circulation to maintain crispness.
